Shane Huntley, Head of Google’s Threat Analysis Group tweeted about it on his twitter handle. He also said that the Iranian hackers had recently targeted email accounts belonging to Republican president Donald Trump’s campaign staff.
Huntley said there has been “no sign of compromise” of either campaign. Huntley says they have sent their users warning about the government attack and referred to fed law enforcement. Huntley advised users working on the election campaign to protect their accounts with two factors authentication or advanced protection to stay safe.
The groups involved in the unsuccessful attempts are referred as APT31 and APT35.
